Meet Archbishop C. Nathan Edwers

Archbishop C. Nathan Edwers, DMin serves as the General Bishop of the UFWB Church General Conference. In this role, he oversees multiple churches throughout the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and provides leadership for more than four annual conferences.

Elected General Bishop on March 26, 2022, Archbishop Edwers has guided the conference into a new era of innovation, positioning it as one of the leading and forward-thinking organizations of its time. He is also the longest-serving pastor of Friendship, where his leadership has helped establish the church as a vital cornerstone of the community.

A distinguished theological scholar and respected community leader, Archbishop Edwers holds a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education from Nyack College, a Master’s degree from Alliance Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate from United Theological Seminary.

Archbishop Edwers resides in Mount Vernon, New York, with his wife, Aro Denise Edwers, whom he married in 1987. He is the proud father of Sherri and Eric, father-in-love to Audrey, and grandfather to Harper and Theodore Edwers.

UFWB Church Journey
  • Archbishop Edwers began his pastoral ministry in 1983 as Pastor of Calvary UFWB Church in Brooklyn, New York. In 1989, he was appointed Pastor of Little Friendship UFWB Church in Mount Vernon, New York.

  • In March 1999, he was consecrated as Bishop by his father, the late Senior Bishop Collie Edwers.

  • In 2001, Archbishop Edwers succeeded his father as Presiding Bishop of the Middle Atlantic Conference.

A Community Leader

Archbishop Edwers has held numerous leadership roles within the community. Among these, he has served two terms as President of the United Black Clergy of Westchester. He is also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., St. Joseph Lodge #117 Free and Accepted Masons, and the Buffalo Soldiers MC.

Additionally, Archbishop Edwers is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of Friendship For Tots, Inc., an early learning center located in Mount Vernon, New York.
